From Garriguella (Girona) we offer the service of removing bee swarms and nests from houses, gardens or any space where they should not be.

If you see one nearby, call us!

In the spring, when the fields are in full bloom, the bees are at full speed, reproducing and growing their hives.

Sometimes they don’t have space where they live and do what we call “swarming”, which means that within the same group a new queen is formed and they separate. The oldest queen bee, with a few workers, leave their hive to find a new place to live. They travel in a swarm. And this can cause unforeseen events.

At Abellaires we have all the permissions and licenses to carry out the removal of swarms and nests in a safe and respectful way with the bee. Wherever they are.

Bee nests

It is well known that bees are hard workers, and when they swarm they look for a new place to settle down. They can build their hives in very unexpected places : between a gate and a window, inside an air chamber in a wall, in garden sheds…

When there are already built honeycombs we call them nests and the removal requires more tracing and dedication.

For us the most important thing is to remove what could end up being a serious problem on the farm. We always try to save as many bees as possible, since as you know they are very important for the maintenance of ecosystems.

Velutina wasp nests

Their nests are quite bulky and rounded in shape, they usually hang from branches, but in recent years it has been very common to find them inside garages and terraces.

The velutina wasp is an invasive species that is unfortunately becoming more and more widespread in our territory.

The removal of velutina wasp nests is a high-risk job. We are equipped with a special suit that is much thicker than a beekeeper’s suit, as its stings are long and dangerous.

The removal of nests is usually done at night since that is when we ensure that most of the wasps are inside the nest.

In this case, what is important is to eliminate them, as they pose a danger to the survival of honey bees.
