The bees are very neat and it is clear to them that they cannot be too many in the same hive. In the spring, when flowering is at its peak, they work hard and usually new workers appear.
When this happens they themselves decide to form a new queen and thus divide into two work groups. The oldest queen, together with a good group of workers who will accompany her, must leave in search of a new place to live. Ideally, they would find some apiary available, but otherwise they may decide to nest in some cozy corner of the wild and/or in towns and cities.
